Ingelheim, also known as Ingelheim am Rhein, is one of the towns of Rhineland-Palatinate, located in the district of Mainz-Bingen. It is largely spread on the western bank of the Rhine River. Also hailed as the Red Wine Town or Rotweinstadt, Ingelheim is famous for its carnival culture, and particularly the Mainz Carnival. The town is home to four major carnival clubs namely, the Carneval-Verein Waschbacher, Ingelheimer Carnevalverein, Carnevalverein Frei-Weinheim and Narrenclub Ingelheim 1987, also called the Fools Club. The town is also dotted with number of museums like, the Museum at the Imperial Palace or Museum bei der Kaiserpfalz. Other notable buildings include - Burgkirche, Uffhubtor, St Peter’s Chapel, Ober-Ingelheim Old Town Hall, Malakoff Tower, Aula Regia and many others.
