Itzehoe is a town located in Schleswig-Holstein state. As the capital of Steinburg district, Itzehoe is situated on the Stor, a traversable affluent of the Elbe. The church of St Lawrence dating back the 12th century and the building in which the Holstein estates previously adjoined are notable. Itzehoe has a community established in 1256, a hospital, number of schools and other charitable institutions. The town is an active commercial place and is the oldest town in Holstein. Its core was a castle, one of Charlemagne's courts versus the Danes. Itzehoe is named as a fort depot of the earlier Infanteriedivision 225 which was entailed in 1940 Vinkt Massacre in Belgium. The town is the site of the Wenzel Hablik Museum. Through the period up to and with the Wacken Open Air festival, numerous festival departers opted to leave for the festival from the town utilizing 'Metal Shuttle Bus'.
