Neubrandenburg is a city along the Gothic route, seven countries where you can see Medieval Gothic stone buildings. The main constructions of this type, definitely worth visiting, are the Church of Saint Mary (Marienkirk) and the old town wall, whose four gates give the city its nickname. The city was bombed during the Second World War, and many buildings including the Markenkir obliterated. However, reconstruction has returned these buildings to their original majesty.
