Bassano del Grappa is a city located in the Veneto region in the north of Italy. The city is perhaps most famous for the invention of the spirit Grappa, which is traditionally consumed as an after-dinner drink and is made out of grape seeds, stems and stalks. The history of the town dates back to at least the 2nd century BC, however there is evidence to indicate that there has been human habitation here since around the 18th century BC. The river Brenta runs through the city and has led to a number of beautiful bridges being constructed in the city to connect the two sides together. The city is relatively rural but it also lies close to the A31 and A27 motorways, which provide great road links to other towns in the region.
