Bergamo is a city in northern Italy and is located in the Lombardy region of the country. The city is split into the upper city and the lower city. The upper city is a medieval town set upon a hilltop and is surrounded by defensive walls. The lower city is where you will find Bergamo Downtown. This is because the lower city is much more modern and so has better road access. This means that the A4 motorway is easy to reach from the lower city. You can rent a car in Bergamo Downtown from VIP Cars so that once you have explored the ancient charms of the upper city; you can then make your way to other attractions in the area located outside the city. Milan is a mere 50 km away from Bergamo with all of the delights that it has to offer.
