Rovigo is a town in the north east of Italy. It is the capital of Rovigo Province in the Veneto region and it is located on Polesine, an area of low ground, on the Adigetto Canal. The town extends to the banks of the river Adige on one side and the Canal Bianco on the other. The town dates back to the 9th century and over the years a wealth of buildings and monuments have been built with the earliest being a 10th century castle. The castle is now in ruins, but two of the original towers are still standing. If you enjoy exploring tiny Italian villages, there are many in the vicinity of Rovigo for you to visit.
