Roros is a small mining community in Norway’s Sor-Trondelag County. It is a favorite tourist destination because of the Roros city center which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Roros boasts of well-preserved 18th and 17th century old houses in its city center. The houses have pitch-log facades that eloquently show tourists how a medieval community of years past used to look.

Aside from the Roros city center, you should also check out the many museums that dot the municipality. Each museum offers specific exhibits with regards to the mining history and as a whole the heritage of Roros. Do go to: Olavsgruva Mine and Smelthytta. Another must visit is the Vingelen mountain village which houses a Norwegian traditional farm with well-preserved wooden farm houses too.
