Monte Gordo is a town and a parish of the municipality of Vila Real de Santo Antonio located in the south-easternmost of the Algarve, Portugal. Previously a fishermen's town, Monte Gordo's economy is nowfocused on tourism because of its long sandy beaches. The main road through Monte Gordo splits the beach and promenade from the rest of the town. On the town side, the road is delineated with arange of shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants and on the opposite side there is anextensive, open promenade with palm trees and benches and the golden sandy beach lines in front. Against the backdrop of the casino and the multistory buildings either side, the beachfront is scatteredeverywhere with beach restaurants, bars, and kiosks.
