Boksburg is a city located on the East Rand of Gautengregion of South Africa. It was here where gold was discovered in the year 1887. Boksburg is linked with the Main Reef Road with the other premier mining towns situated on Witwatersrand. Angelo Hotel, which dates back to 1887, was used as the staging post. The city is part of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipalityand it forms the local government of most of the East Rand. A large dam was built by Mining Commissioner Montague White.
