Pontypridd is a town in Rhondda Cynon Taf, near Cardiff, in south Wales. It is around 19 kilometres north of the Welsh capital city of Cardiff. Locals shorten the name to Ponty. The name comes from the number of old wooden bridges that previously crossed the River Taff. Nowadays, the town is more known for an old stone bridge, known as the OLD Bridge.

St David’s Church is a popular place to visit when in the town, and Ynysangharad Park is an ideal spot to relax and unwind, with a bandstand, statues, pretty flowers, and a pitch and putt course. The town is famous for being the birth place of legendary singer Tom Jones. The Welsh National Anthem was also composed in the town. Pop band the Lostprophets lived in Pontypridd.
