Grantham is a market town in the English county of Lincolnshire. It is near to the cities of Nottingham and Lincoln. The town is famous for many reasons. Firstly, it was the birthplace of the former UK Prime Minister, and Britain’s first female premier, Margaret Thatcher. Secondly, it was where Isaac Newton went to school. Thirdly, it was the scene of Oliver Cromwell's first advantage over Royalists during the English Civil War at Gonerby Moor.

The first female police officers in the UK were in Grantham, and it is close to an ancient Roman road. The soaring St Wulfram’s church, with its towering spire, is the main landmark in the town. There are several other churches also in the town. The oldest surviving inn in England is another town attraction, The Angel and Royal. Every year the town holds the Grantham Parade and the Grantham Festival. Bird lovers will enjoy seeing the peregrine falcons in the town.
