A town in the English county of Surry, Haslemere is within easy reach of London, and is only 20 kilometres outside of Guildford. It is Surrey’s most southerly town and is named after a collection of Hazel trees that grew next to a lake, although the lake does not exist today.
The town is at the end of the long Greensand Way walk, which stretches for 180 kilometres to Kent. The town has strong musical links. Lord Tennyson spent the last years of his life in the town. There are many lovely buildings to admire, as well as interesting museums to visit. There is a selection of places to eat and drink in the town.
