Putney Bridge is a bridge in west London that crosses the River Thames. It links Putney to Fulham. There is a London Underground station not far from the bridge. The original bridge was sanctioned in1726, built, and then opened in 1729.
It was a toll bridge when it first opened. It was damaged and repaired before being completely demolished and replaced with the bridge that is there today. This bridge was built in 1886. It is not a toll bridge today. It is the only bridge in Britain that has a church at both ends; they are St Mary’s Church in Putney, and All Saints’ Church in Fulham. It looks nice at night when the lights reflect off the shimmering waters below.
