Streatham is a district in the south of London. It is mainly within the London Borough of Lambeth, but some parts of it also fall under the London Borough of Wandsworth. It is a short distance from the main hub of the city, lying only 8 kilometres outside of Charing Cross.

The name means the hamlet on the street. Streatham Green is a pleasant place to relax, and the interesting English Martyrs Church is nearby. Steatham Common also provides a quiet sanctuary, and other local churches include St Leonard’s Church,Christ Church, Holy Redeemer Church, St Peter’s Church, Hambro Road Baptist Church, and Streatham Methodist Church. There are also Mosques, and Synagogues. The area of Streatham has some natural springs, believed to have properties beneficial to health. Park Hill is a large house, built at the beginning of the 19th century. There are some local shops along the High Street.
