Fort Smith is a large city located in Sebastian County in the US state of Arkansas. Lying on the Arkansas-Oklahoma border, this city is the center of the Fort Smith Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan area, which constitutes three counties of Arkansas and two counties belonging to Oklahoma. The economy of this city is mostly dependent on the manufacturing center with a number of major plants being located here.
Fort Smith has a number of attractions for travelers to visit. The Fort Smith National Historic Site is the main landmark here and contains remains of an original 1817 fort located on the Arkansas River, along with the restored courtroom of the Judge IC Parker, and the frontier jail named 'Hell on the Border’. Other prominent attractions include Miss Laura’s Social Club and Visitor Center, the Trolley Museum, Fort Chaffee, and the Belle Grove Historic District.
