Freeland is an unincorporated community located in the Tittabawassee Township of the Saginaw County in Central Michigan. Located on the Tetabawasink River, this town was named after a tavern located here and frequented by lumbermen who started to refer to this area as Freeland. This town is also the location for the MBS International Airport which serves the Flint/TriCities region and connects it to destinations such as Detroit, Minneapolis and Chicago.
Freeland does not have many attractions of its own however the nearby TriCities region can be visited by travelers. Saginaw has a number of museums and theaters to visit. This town also has a popular lawn chair film festival, a series of summer festivals called 'Friday Night Live’, and an annual ice fishing competition called 'Shiver on the River’. Travelers can also visit Bay City to see the Planetarium there or visit the Riverwalk area.
