Sciacca is a coastal town in Agrigento Province located on the coast of Sicily in the south west. The location boasts of great views out over the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The town was founded in the 5th century BC essentially as a health spa for people to come and bath in the hot springs found on Mount San Calogero found just to the north of the modern town, although there was little infrastructure to be found for many years. Sciacca is still laid out in the medieval style of dividing the town into quarters. There are a number of architecturally significant buildings in Sciacca, but it is also a great place from which to base a holiday as it offers routes inland and along the coast.
