Chitre City is the provincial capital of Herrera and is located a short distance inland from the Gulf of Panama. The name of the city comes from the Chitra, the tribe that is native to the area. The city itself has a lot to see with Spanish colonial architecture and plazas along with bustling markets. The city also offers modern restaurants and shopping centres.In order to see some of the wildlife in the region, you can rent a car from VIP Cars to allow you to travel outside of the city itself. One place to head for is the nearby beach of Agallito, a haven for ornithologists and photographers. If you time your trip carefully and get there at low tide you will be treated to the sight of many different types of crab wandering across the beach and also all of the birds that come to the beach to feed.
