The full name of Kingston is Kingston upon Thames. It is in the south west of the capital city of London, and was an important place throughout history as having been the place where all Saxon kings were crowned.
The Coronation Stone can be seen in the Guildhall grounds. It is only 16 kilometres away from Charring Cross. Kingston had one of the few crossings of the River Thames in times gone by, and there remains a bridge at the original site. The St Mary Magdalene Chapel dates back to 1309, and is the only private chantry chapel to have survived the Reformation. All Saint’s Church is another interesting religious building. A novel and unique attraction is called Out of Order; it is a sculpture made from disused red telephone booths that have been arranged in a domino style formation. Also, there is a good shopping opportunities in Kingston. Many bars and restaurants line the River Thames, and several old traditional pubs can also be found in the area.
