The ruler of Mexico, Maximilian, wanted such a street to connect his residence, Chapultepec Castle, to the National palace in the centre of town. Paseo Reforma runs parallel to Torre Mayor for a short distance crosses the Zona Rosa and Xocalo before arriving at the National Palace. The original street has been extended, at an angle from the original, crossing other major landmarks. Paseo Reforma is one of many important landmarks to see in Mexico.
